The Lighthouse

We have been looking at a video on Literacy Shed this morning about The Lighthouse. The Lighthouse Keeper had broken his light! We predicted how we thought he would fix it. Then we hot seated the Lighthouse Keeper and the interviewer. We asked the Lighthouse Keeper lots of questions and he had to explain how he felt.

Jam sandwiches

We have been making jam sandwiches today. We practised telling each other instructions to help us with our writing tomorrow. We looked at bossy verbs and adjectives and which ones are the best ones to use in our instructions.

Sunny Blackpool

We have had so much fun this week in Sunny Blackpool. We went to experience the seaside as part of our new learning around Seaside Holliday now and in the past.

We played on the beach, had a ride on a donkey, ate ice creams and even learned some water safety at the RNLI which was really fun. Not forgetting our lunch in the sunshine with an array of very hungry seagulls.

Take a look at some of our seaside fun in Blackpool

This week we have been talking about our feelings and how our face and body can sometimes show how we are feeling without saying any words. We talked about always telling someone how we feel so that bad feelings can be turned around and good feelings celebrated.

Sculpture Skills

This is week in art we have been using plasticine to practise our sculpture skills in preparation for creating our very own animal sculptures. We have used the warmth of our hands to roll, pinch, squeeze and mould the plasticine. Mrs Bevin set us a challenge to create a simple animal structure to apply our new skills.

The Vets

As part of learning about animals this half term we have set up a vets in our classroom. We really enjoy dressing up in Puffins and many of us would like to be vets in the future. We have had a discussion in class about what skills we would need to become a vet. We are great at looking after animals and recognising parts of an animals body.

Role play

We have been re enacting Cinderella as part of our literacy this week. The children have though about characters and main events in order to re tell the story.

Mrs Bevin was really impressed with the adjectives we used to describe the evil stepmother.

Look at the fun we have been having in Puffins class. We have been writing recounts about real life experiences and roasting marshmallows on an open fire was a great experience! We learned about fire safety and how tasty marshmallows are when they are golden brown.

Mother’s Day Lunch

What a lovely lunch we had today celebrating of the special mummies we have in Puffins class. We have had so much fun today making our special Mothers Day cards and getting messy with the paint and glitter and Mrs Bevin loved listening to all the lovely reasons why we love our mums.

We hope you all have a very special Mother’s Day this weekend.
