Today, The Gates welcomed schools from around Westhoughton as we played host to two football tournaments consisting of 17 teams (boys teams and girls teams) from 9 schools.
The tournament ran really smoothly and lots of fun was had by all! There was great sportsmanship on display, lots of goals and some great resilience from those who took part and braced the cold weather – and from parents and teachers too!
Congratulations to St James’s, who won the Boys Development Tournament, and to St Thomas’s, who won the Girls Tournament.
Well done all!
To honour and commemorate those who lost their lives and made sacrifices during World Wars and recent conflicts, the school remembered in our Remembrance Day Ceremony where we stood to observe a minutes silence together and reflected on those who: were killed, gave up their lives to save others, tried to save the peace and make sacrifices to secure and protect our freedom.
In addition to this, each child made a symbolic Poppy and placed it outside in the garden at the front of school.
In a time of conflict, show love.
