Youth Speak Competition

Last night, 3 of our Y6 children took part in the Youth Speak competition hosted by the Westhoughton Rotary Club. Our children spoke passionately and eloquently about the issue of deforestation, showing no hint of nerves or apprehension. We competed against two other teams and WE WON! Congratulations to our speakers and a big thank you to Mrs Latham for helping the children prepare.

Stone Age Smelting

Starlings had fun re-enacting the smelting process with a bit of outdoor role play. Children were able to explain how Stone Age Britons first started making materials out of bronze and could use key terminology such as ores, liquid bronze, smelting and moulds with ease – apparently I have Minecraft to thank for this!
